Highlight of Hachinohe (a half day)

Kushihiki Hachiman Shrine & Nejo Castle Site

In this tour, you will visit Kushihiki Hachiman Shrine, the most venerable shrine in the region. Originating in 1222, most buildings on the shrine ground were built in 1648 and designated as National Important Cultural Property. The shrine houses two sets of National Treasure armor, that were given by two different emperors to the Nanbu Family that ruled this area a long time ago.
You will also visit the reconstructed medieval castle, Nejo Castle which was first built in 1334 by the Nanbu Clan. The motte bailey style castle includes the main building and several other fortifications that were faithfully reconstructed after extensive excavations and research.
