On July 27, 2021, Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan (17 sites) were added to World Cultural Heritage List.  Eight of those sites are located in Aomori Prefecture. If you want to know about Jomon, read here.

This tour includes one of those world heritage sites, Odai-Yamamoto Site in Sotogahama Town where potsherds found is approximately 15,000 years old, the oldest in Japan.

Sotogahama Town, located in the eastern part of the northern tip of Tsugaru Peninsula, has been known as a place where 15,000 year old Jomon potsherds were found.  The archaeological site is important as it shows the environmental and cultural aspects of the transition from the Paleolithic era to the Jomon Period. In this tour, you can visit the Odai-Yamamoto Site and history museums to see Jomon culture as well as Japanese traditional culture. In addition, you will visit one of the famous potteries in the Tsugaru region, and make your own cup or bowl at the nearby workshop.

Meet at JR Shin-Aomori Station.  The tour starts using a van.

Visit the Sotogahama Oyama Furusato Museum to see 15,000 year old potsherds, and then visit the Odai-Yamamoto Site where the potsherds were found.

The length of the tour:  9 hours.
This tour is available from the end of April to the end of October.
This tour is available for one person up to 4 persons.
The cost of the tour per person, if booked as a group of 6 persons, is 23,000 Yen, including guide fees, taxi/van, admission fees, lunch, and other experience-based activities. Free cancellation:  30 days prior to the date of the tour.
50% refund:  15 to 29 days prior to the date of the tour.
No refund:  Within 14 days prior to the date of the tour.
