Omori Katsuyama Site

On July 27, 2021, Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan (17 sites) were added to World Cultural Heritage List.  Eight of those sites are located in Aomori Prefecture.   If you want to know about Jomon, read here

This tour includes one world heritage site, Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle.

In addition to the visit to Omori Katsuyama Sone Circle, you can visit the eastern side of World Natural Heritage Site, Shirakami-sanchi mountain ranges, where Jomon people lived more than 3,000 years ago.

Kato Soy Sauce/Miso Paste Brewery

Visit a family run brewery established in 1871, and tour inside the traditional authentic brewery with the fifth generation family members, and learn how soy sauce and miso are produced. Fermented food originates in Jomon Period.

10:30 – 11:30

Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle

Visit the World Heritage site, Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle, with a local volunteer guide. This stone circle from the final Jomon period of approximately 1,000 years B.C., is located at the foot of Mt. Iwaki.  The sun sets on the summit of the mountain on the winter solstice.

Nishimeya Dam Lake Tour by an amphibious vehicle

A rare experience to ride a vehicle that can go on the ground as well as on the water. Enjoy the natural environment where Jomon cultures once flourished some 3,000 years ago.

BUNACO Nishimeya Factory

A closed Japanese elementary school in Nishimeya Village is used as a factory. BUNACO is a beech tree woodwork. Nishimeya area is located in the eastern side of World Natural Heritage Site, Shirakami-sanchi mountain ranges. Using abundant beech tree resources, woodwork called BUNACO is produced. After touring the factory, you can make your own BUNACO product.

Return to JR Hirosaki Station.

The length of the tour:  9 hours.
This tour is available from the end of April to the end of October.
Sequence of the visit during the tour may be changed.
This tour is available for 4 persons up to 8 persons.
The cost of the tour per person, if booked as a group of 4 persons, is 40,000 Yen, all inclusive (guide fee, taxi/van, admission fees, lunch, and other experience-based activities). Please contact us for personalizing your tour and a quotation.

Free cancellation:  30 days prior to the date of the tour.
50% refund:  15 to 29 days prior to the date of the tour.
