On July 27, 2021, Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan (17 sites) were added to World Cultural Heritage List.  Eight of those sites are located in Aomori Prefecture.   If you want to know about Jomon, read here

This tour includes one world heritage site, Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle.

In this tour, you can enjoy the traditional side of the modern-day city of Hirosaki in the morning, and then in the afternoon, see the spiritual side of the local people as well as Jomon people in the Hirosaki area.

Hirosaki Castle Park
The tour of the Hirosaki Castle Park will start from the castle’s main gate located in front of the city hall. The city hall building was designed by modern times’ architect, Kunio Maekawa.
We will walk through the inner compound of castle from the main gate to Kamenokomon gate.   
Hirosaki Castle and Mt. Iwaki

Kawasaki Dye Factory
The factory was established in the Edo Period.  Try to dye a handkerchief with natural indigo.

Lunch at Tsugaru Umaiya, Hirosaki Neputa Village. Free time at the souvenir shop.

Iwaki-san Shrine
The main shrine was said to be built in 780 on the summit of Mt. Iwaki, the highest mountain in Aomori with the altitude of 1626 m.   You will be guided by the shrine’s priest in the precinct and then to the main hall.    Mt. Iwaki is an important element for Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle.

Omori Katsuyama Stone Circle
This stone circle from the final Jomon period of approximately 1,000 years B.C., is located at the foot of Mt. Iwaki.  We will visit the Susono District Physical Culture Exchange Center where you can see artifacts unearthed in this Jomon site.  The sun sets on the summit of the mountain on the winter solstice.

Finish the tour at JR Hirosaki Station.

The length of the tour;  9 hours.
This tour is available from the end of April to the end of October.
Sequence of the visit during the tour may be changed.
This tour is available for one person up to 8 persons.

50% refund:  15 to 29 days prior to the date of the tour.
